In an effort to increase the college-going and graduation rates of veterans at selective colleges and universities across the country, The Posse Foundation recently announced its Veterans Posse initiative, a new college scholarship program for veterans. Vassar College is the first institution to partner with the Foundation to enroll specialized Veterans Posses.

Each year the Posse Gala honors individuals and organizations that have made an extraordinary difference in the field of education or have been incredible role models for young people.

Northwestern University has signed on to become Posse’s newest partner institution and will begin recruiting students from Posse Los Angeles next fall.

Posse has launched its eighth program site in New Orleans, Louisiana. The city’s 128 public schools support 65,000 students who represent the rich cultural mix of The Big Easy.

Syracuse University has signed on to recruit students from three Posse chapters—Atlanta, Los Angeles and Miami—starting this fall. Additionally, longtime partner institution Middlebury College has expanded its partnership to annually recruit a second cohort from Posse’s Chicago chapter.

The Posse Foundation is proud to be featured in the 2010–2011 Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington. This year, a panel of 100 expert reviewers from area foundations, corporate giving programs, giving circles and peer nonprofits selected Posse among the 70 nonprofits included

The University of Southern California has signed on as Posse’s newest partner institution and will recruit the first class of Posse Scholars from New York City this fall. Additionally, The University of Wisconsin-Madison and Brandeis University have expanded their partnerships to recruit students from additional Posse sites.

The Posse Foundation is one of only 10 organizations selected by President Barack Obama to receive a portion of the president’s $1.4 million Nobel Peace Prize award money. News that Posse will receive a generous gift of $125,000 came via a White House announcement.

Pepperdine University has become Posse’s newest partner institution. In addition, longtime partner Hamilton College, already paired with Posse Boston, has expanded its partnership to become the third partner school for newly launched Posse Miami.

Mount Holyoke and The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) have partnered with Posse to recruit students from Miami. The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and existing partner Bucknell University have also signed on with the Los Angeles chapter.
